Praised for his "clarion tone" (Ludwig van Toronto) and "impressive vocal colour" (Opera Canada), Canadian-American baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg has recently been featured in a number of North American opera productions, including those with Opéra de Montréal, Vancouver Opera, Portland Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria, and Calgary Opera. He has been recognized for his performances of Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), and Giorgio Germont (La traviata), and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte). He will be featured in several upcoming Canadian productions, such as singing the roles of Morales and Dancaïre in Carmen (Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes), Marquis d’Obigny in La traviata (Opéra de Montréal), and Escamillo in another production of Carmen (Orchestre de Trois-Rivières).

Geoffrey has sung as a soloist with a number of different orchestras and ensembles, most recently performing Des Knaben Wunderhorn with both l’Orchestre de l’Agora in Montréal, Québec and the Mississippi Valley Orchestra in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He has appeared with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, both in the roles of Captain in a concert performance of Candide and of Danilo in selections from The Merry Widow. He has also sung as a soloist in several oratorio concerts, including A Sea Symphony and Faure’s Requiem with the Vancouver Bach Choir, Duruflé’s Requiem with the Saint Philips Choir, and Handel’s Messiah with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra.

Geoffrey has completed a number of artist residencies including l’Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, the Portland Opera Resident Artist Program, the Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Development Program, and the Brott Opera Emerging Artist Program. He also has completed a number of revered training fellowships including Highlands Opera Studio and Music Academy of the West. He has also earned a number of accolades in vocal competitions, including the of the Concours Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (Stingray Rising Stars Award), the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (District and Audience Choice Winner), the Vancouver International Music Competition (Platinum Prize), and the Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage Competition (Third Prize).
